MusicQubed was a challenger brand struggling with the wrong recruitment processes and partnerships. The hundreds of CVs received each month were draining management time, interviews weren’t being monitored and very few hires came from staff referrals. Agency costs were high, but there was no objective performance measurement and many agency and candidate overlaps.
Analysing Musicqubed’s processes and partnerships, we found insufficient support for line managers, as well as low-calibre recruitment partners, each one working to different terms and conditions. We created a new recruitment process and showed all hiring managers how to use it, sharply improving the success rate. We cut the preferred list of recruitment suppliers from 20 to three and instigated a single SLA to cover their work for MusicQubed. We appointed a dedicated in-house recruitment manager to increase direct hires, cut agency spend, improve interview communication and enhance the company’s local profile. We also helped hire an interim HR Director, who brought in a new share incentive plan and standardised employment contracts and performance criteria. Weekly performance reviews and feedback sessions helped to cut costs and wasted management time significantly. Senior-level appointments had been a problem for MusicQubed. With no trusted suppliers in place, the firm had to rely on word of mouth, networking and a basic careers page. We became the provider of choice for all senior hires up to C-level, carrying out leadership-level searches in India, USA and the UK across operations, sales, marketing, IT and HR.
With new teams and processes in place, we helped MusicQubed hire almost 50 people in eight months, over 75% of them via direct sourcing or referrals. This delivered a significant six-figure annual saving on agency costs, plus better use of management time.
